Chinese Horoscope Signs: Gaining Clarity

The Chinese calendar is based on the phase of the moon and on the season of the solar year. So, the elements of a lunar calendar are incorporated into the elements of a solar calendar. In modern day China, the Gregorian calendar is used for most day to day actions and activities. However, traditional holidays like the Chinese New Year are marked by the traditional Chinese calendar. Other traditional Chinese festivals whose dates are determined by the traditional Chinese calendar include the Duan Wu festival and the festival of Mid-Autumn. Often, the Chinese calendar is used for determining auspicious dates for weddings, business openings and so on.

What is Chinese Astrology Based on?

According to the Chinese Astrology, 2014 is the year of the Horse. This system of astrology is traditionally known as Sheng Xiao. It is a system that is based on a twelve year cycle. Each year in this cycle is associated with an animal. The Year of the Horse lasts from January 31, 2014 to February 18, 2015. The animal signs corresponding to each year include the year of the rat, the year of the ox, that of the tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, sheep, monkey, rooster, dog and the year of the pig. Our birthdays on the Gregorian calendar will correspond to a different date as per the Chinese Lunar Calendar and this will determine the animal year in which we were born. Forecasts would be made according to our birth year!
