Chinese Calendar
The earliest evidence of Chinese calendar was found in the Shang dynasty oracle bones, which is the first written text in Chinese. The concept of sexagenary cycle or the sixty year time circle was introduced from this time. According to records the calculation of time and years started in the middle of the 3rd century BC. The calculation of the sexagenary cycle, dividing the sixty years in five parts and the 12 year cyclic calendar is the traditional Chinese calendar. Though the traditional Chinese calendar that is also known as agricultural calendar is still followed in China for traditional and astrological use, Gregorian calendar was introduced in Republic of China in the year 1912 and followed for official purpose. Every 19 years the Chinese calendar and Gregorian calendar sync together.
